Video

And while I should be studying for my real estate exam on Monday, I can’t help but post right now. As I pulled out my APPRAISAL text book for a joyous Friday evening of study, my darling wife began mixing all our home videos on the Mac. The studying lasted all of 30 seconds as I began to hear the last 3.5 months of our lives playing in the background. I found myself drawn to the other room…

The filiming began the day Oliver was born and runs thru last weekend. It is quite a job to edit all this video, but Sal has great editorial instincts so the end product will be fantastic. Of course, I’m such a sap that I’ll watch the unedited version time and time again! My cheeks are starting to hurt a bit from too much grinning while watching the video. This is the kind of pain I welcome :)

Sal continues to be a rock. Not a day goes by that I am not blown away by the patience, energy, and devotion she shows to Oliver and to our family. I’m a fortunate man.

Proud Papa

Forgive me Blog for I have sinned, it has been too long since my last post….

Just moments ago I had Oliver on my lap watching the Red Sox win game 1 of the season-ending three day series with the Yankees. Not only was he actively watching the game, but moments after he laid his eyes on the screen, the Sox scored two runs. I know there will be years of heartache to come for the boy with our beloved Sox…. but for now we celebrate. First Sox game I recall so vividly watching/listening to games with my father. He would explain the rules, the strategy, and point out things that I should try on the field in the years ahead. He would also point out players with character — and those who were lacking in that department. I tried my best to emulate the players my father said had “class”…even if they were on the Yankees. I look forward to sharing similar lessons with Oliver in the years ahead.

There is something so special about summer afternoons in Maine listening to the game over a crackly AM station while riding in the pick-up truck. Sometimes… that is the only way to “watch” a game.

Ooo - two hands together!

Ooo - two hands together!Oliver has discovered two things this week. His hands and his mouth - and how the two things come together - oh what fun! Apparently this is a developmental stage of some significance. He’s also licking everything - including your neck when you hold him! Saying goodbye to him each morning is becoming harder and harder - I dread the day he actually realises what’s happening and lets out a wail!

Sleep Patterns

Haven’t written anything of much note recently, taken up as I have been with getting settled back into work and some kind of routine. Am enjoying being back though, for now at least. I began working a couple of days a week from home, but that’s tough, tough not to want to run inside and be with him all the time. when I found myself trying to conduct a conference call whilst breastfeeding I figured something had to give.

The good thing is I *can* work quite effectively in the studio as it’s removed from the house, but then when the whole morning goes by and I don’t see him, I kind of wonder what the point it. Also work (she says guiltily) actually gives me a bit of a break, mentally - a change is as good as a rest I suppose - so when I do go home I have much more energy, emotional energy for my son. I’m sure the balance gets easier with time… ha!

Was looking today for websites selling Japanese baby clothes - none found so far, I sense an opportunity… Anyone know of any please let me know!

Papa & O at Venice Festival
In other news - we went to the Abbot Kinney festival at the weekend - it was mobbed. Oliver lasted a full 40 minutes (and half of that was crying) before we decided enough was enough and headed home. I think he was just freaked out by the number of people.

We did have our first laugh! Saturday afternoon, in the bath with me, playing. Steven got it on video - I just need to spend the time to load it up and you too will be able to enjoy!

Yeah!

Yeah! Our boy in his element - outside - feeling the wind on his cheeks! Ah!

Bianca our nanny took this one - how great that she is into taking pics of him so we don’t feel we’re missing out on his day.

Meme & Oliver

Meme & Oliver I just love this photo of Oliver and his grandmother.

Claudette is coming out to LA to take a trip with us to Yosemite in October for a wedding. I can’t wait! We were debating about taking our nanny or hiring strangers to babysit when we got there, when we realised - this is crazy! We could ask one of the grandparents if they would like to join us - it makes it a family vacation and will be so much more enjoyable! Now I’m looking forward to the trip rather than stressing about it - Yosemite here we come!

There’s my boy!

There's my boy!Posted this a while ago, but it always makes me smile. The advent of a new season brings with it all sorts of new outfits for his mama to subject him to! He’s not a huge fan of hats though, probably becasue we have yet to find one that actually fits him snugly.

Eeek!!

Working quietly away at my desk today and “shunt” - my first earthquake.

Don’t like it.
Don’t like it at all.
Thinking we should move some place where there are no hurricanes, no earthquakes - a natural disaster free zone methinks.
