What’s the time Mr Fox?

I can’t remember where this game came from now? I think it was from Oliver’s best friend Charlie, but I remember it from my childhood too. Such a great way to get the kids run about and one of those moments when you realize, wow they really are growing up. This is where the real fun begins!

Kickin it old school

It’s always hard when my kids get their haircut, they seem to get another five years older with each snip of the scissors. I have mixed feelings about Oliver - sometimes it looks great shory, but I miss those curls!

Hear me roar

There are tow sides to the lovely Lola. The cheeky, mischevious, loving side. The one who bats her eye lids and charms the crowd. Then there is, well let us just call her the willful one. This roar, the look in her eye, this is Lola the Willful. Unabashed, defiant, standing proud. It will serve you will little one.

Good times

Oakwood park has become a favorite hang out for the kids and I - usually after school. We take snacks and drinks and run around with whoever is there, sometimes Romeo and Clover, sometimes Charlie. This day featured the whole crew, and the high jinks on the slide resulted in much hilarity.

Growing up

I love this photo of Oliver. He is growing up so fast now. Still calls me “meow meow”, still comes into our bed at night. But now can dress himself, even put on socks and shoes. Cannot wait to do things “all by myself”.
Will say “I love you meow meow” when you least expect it. Loves forts, reading stories, Phiineas and Ferb, to jump and chase, to wrestle and tickle. Dislikes soccer and gymnastics, not much of a dancer and can’t lie to save himself. Trying to trick anyone results in him dissolving into fits of giggles. Oh and we’re learning our letters and sounds and starting to put them together.

UK Trip

I don’t know what it is about this time of year, Fall, that brings out the melancholy in me. The falling leaves, the misty mornings, followed in LA of course by a scorchingly hot day to remind you that summer is not quite over.

That is probably it. The sudden changes in temperature are a stark reminder that I am not home, that I can’t snuggle up, get cosy by the fire and knuckle down for Winter. I’m in Los Angeles, not London after all.

So around this time I try and sneak a trip back home. To visit my nieces and nephews and see how they have grown. To visit my brothers, my Mum, and see how they are, or are not, taking care of themselves. To remind myself that whilst some things change, many things remain comfortingly the same.
