Being with family for the holidays is really what it’s all about. These moments are touchstones in our lives that we will look back on in years to come. Granny’s first year trick or treating was a blast.

Of Star Wars & Fairies

Happy Halloween! Steven’s Chewbacca costume had the starring role this year - everybody loved it! We went on a tour of the canals, an impressive group all dressed up in our Star Wars gear. Lola did have a Leia costume but decided last minute to be a fairy. Always going her own way is wee Lolie, one of the many things I love about her.

As for Oliver, his night was made when someone gave hi a light saber! And I’m not talking about the plastic cheapy kind I’ve picked up for him at Walgreens either! This one lights up, makes the right noises. Very impressive. He won’t be forgetting this Halloween for a while. Although I do have to impress upon him that this kind of thing doesn’t happen evervy Halloween. Needless to say, his Star Wars obsession contiues unabated!

Halloween this year was spent at Charlie’s house. This witch costume was about the third the kids had experimented with before finally deciding that for the big night, they had to be something scary. So we went over and charged around the walk streets of Venice trying to scare everyone witless, well maybe not… I was a flapper - pure laziness on my part, and Steven donned a suit. Every year I kind of get paralyzed by indecision over what to hear and end of with something very lame. Charlie’s Dad Andrew stole the show with a serial killer slash grave digger combo outfit. Yikes!

This year it is definitely sinking in with the kids though. Thankfully the Halloween Fairy took care of most of the candy so no-one got too out of control and there was even a special surpise in the morning to combat the post-sugarfest withdrawls.

The Pirate & The Bee

Halloween at 625 Angelus Place was a busy affair. Went to Oliver’s school for a party with lots of other semi0drunk parents and other kids hyped up on cookies and cake. We then proceeded to parade around the neighborhood. Oliver loved it. Lola was kinda over it pretty quickly. Altho she delighted in running away from Oliver’s friend Romeo.

I have a feeling this will be a pattern. Lola playing with Oliver’s friends and it driving her brother crazy.
